A Post From Harry The Tipster
Hi folks. Harry here with my first blog post for this website. If you are a follower on Facebook you know my love for horse racing. This week we finally get a look at the Spring champions starting their preparation and I for one couldn’t be happier. Good riddance to the winter racing. My members and I have done it tough during the winter and like last spring I am looking to take some money out of the bookmakers pockets. There is some very good talent getting on the track this weekend and there is a mare called Winx saddling up for her 18th win in a row. Will she get it? Of course she will. My modest bankroll doesn’t allow me to bet on her but it is still the race I am most looking forward to watching. I love the fact that horse racing can produce a star that captivates an entire country, even people who don’t usually follow the sport. I bet you the race replay makes the prime time news. What a horse. She is $1.08 and $1.01. Chuck $20 on the place and make 20 cents profit. 20 cents was a lot when I was a boy and is better than a poke in the eye with a hot stick.
There is some great talent running around against her and on the same day as her too. At Caulfield, the Winslow looks like a 1 horse race on paper with Catchy being far ahead of all others with her turn of foot. I think Brook Magic will take up the front and put up a fight, very good value at over $5 a place. Crown Witness will also push forward and across from the wide gate and will be tough to run down after beating Madeenaty in her last run and is obviously undefeated after 2 runs. She will be fit and race ready. I think if Catchy gets a nice spot mid field or just forward she will run past them. Let’s not forget Jukebox, undefeated as a 2 year old and missing some big racing at the end of his prep with an injury. Word from the stable is that he has grown another foot and is ready to go. I think Kobayashi will make him work for it while trying to put together a hatrick of wins. Black Heart Bart will try to keep his unbeaten record alive when racing at Caulfield over 1400 metres but Winx’s bridesmaid Hartnell could finish that off. Weir has 6 runners in the P.B. Lawrence but could still lose if Hartnell races to full potential and gets some luck. Don’t forget Tosen Stardom, will need to get over from the wide gate and be somewhere near the speed to be in it at the finish but I think it is great value at around $8.
Up in Sydney we have some very good racing and watch anything coming out of the Chris Waller stable. That man is bloody good at what he does. His seventh straight Bart Cummings medal and this years T J Smith medal say so. His runner Calculated in the Up and Coming stakes looks very well suited and at $3.50 now is value. His mare Winx will brain them in the Warwick Stakes. I find some very good value in race 7 at Randwick with Imposing Lass at $6 and $2.20. I will be betting on her to be in the finish. Needs to be forward of mid field from the wide gate but with some luck I think can upset Bowman on the favorite.
I will be looking over each race at both meetings for my members and will also check out Doomben and Gold Coast for some value. A big weekend of racing to kick the Spring off and I’m more excited than a kid on Christmas day. Good luck and happy punting!
